Liquado

Joaquin on Sunday with some imaginative play. He was pretending to make and drink "liquado", a milkshake or smoothy-type of drink that he likes. I thought the soft window light was nice and snapped this photo at max aperture to soften it up even more.

I remember someone telling me or reading somewhere that the eye closest to the camera should be in focus. It's kind of interesting that despite almost everything being out of focus, just having that left eye in focus makes it all ok. Human visual perception is so cool...that's how we normally see: one point of sharp focus, the rest blurry.

Sunset in Oceanside

JCO at beach

I took Joaquin to the beach to practice balancing flash output with a sunset back drop. I think it worked out. The hardest part was getting the off-camera flash aimed correctly with my left hand while shooting with my right hand. Of course, he's a fast moving target...that made it an interesting excersize as well.
